Juan’s Grandma’s Mexican Salsa

A family favorite passed down through generations — this salsa blends fresh jalapeños, ripe tomatoes, and onions into a vibrant, flavorful staple that’s perfect for any table.

🌱 From the Field

Made with sun-ripened Roma tomatoes, fiery jalapeños, and crisp onions, this salsa is a true celebration of fresh ingredients. Simple, authentic, and packed with love — just the way Grandma made it.

🧺 Ingredients (makes about 3 cups)

🔥 Instructions

  1. Roast the vegetables: Place tomatoes, jalapeños, onion, and garlic on a baking sheet. Broil or roast at 450°F (230°C) for 10–15 minutes, turning once, until lightly charred.

  2. Peel garlic: Remove skins from garlic cloves once cool.

  3. Blend: In a blender or food processor, combine roasted vegetables with cilantro, lime juice, and salt. Blend until smooth or leave slightly chunky, depending on preference.

  4. Taste & adjust: Add more lime juice, salt, or jalapeño for desired flavor and heat.

  5. Serve fresh with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a topping for grilled dishes.

🌾 Farmer’s Tip:

For smoky depth, roast the jalapeños directly over an open flame before blending. You can also swap some jalapeños for serranos for extra heat.

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • As a dip with tortilla chips

  • Spoon over tacos, burritos, or quesadillas

  • Pair with grilled fish, chicken, or veggies

  • Stir into rice or beans for extra flavor
